    Conference: “Library 4.0: Knowledge Repositories in the Age of AI”

    On December 9, the annual conference “Library 4.0: Knowledge Repositories in the Age of AI” was held at the Rooms Hotel in Tbilisi. The event was designed for higher and vocational education institutions as well as research centers.

    The conference focused on the future of libraries in the context of artificial intelligence and digital transformation. Particular emphasis was placed on how the mission of knowledge creation, preservation and dissemination is evolving in an era where AI-based systems, big data and digital ecosystems are reshaping the traditional functions of libraries. Discussions also addressed innovative new services of “knowledge repositories” and the challenges arising from the synergy between human and machine intelligence.

    The conference unites international and local experts in the field, along with partner organizations EBSCO and Innovative Systems Management (ISM). Participants jointly explored practical models of Library 4.0, innovative services and future-oriented strategies.

    The event aimed to deepen professional dialogue, facilitate the exchange of the best practices and promote the sustainable, technologically integrated development of local libraries as essential pillars of the educational ecosystem.

    The following topics were discussed at the conference: Updates from EBSCO: key innovations and an overview of artificial intelligence (AI)–based features on the EBSCOhost platform, integration of learning management systems, digital transformation of libraries, ISM: development of digital infrastructure for research and cultural heritage, outcomes of the 10-year collaboration between EBSCO and ISM. 

    The conference was attended by Tamar Kavtaradze, Head of Caucasus International University Library. Towards the end of the conference, participants were awarded certificates.

    For reference, Caucasus International University has been cooperating with EBSCO and Innovative Systems Management (ISM) for 10 years and currently subscribes to 12 databases of the EBSCO EP Package PREMIER.
