    Training: “AI in Libraries – Transformation, Implementation, Challenges and the Future of Information Services”

    On November 25 and 27, Tamar Kavtaradze, Head of Caucasus International University Library, participated in a two-day educational program – “AI in Libraries – Transformation, Implementation, Challenges and the Future of Information Services”. The event was organized by the company Innovative Educational Connections.

    During the session, participants explored the historical development of artificial intelligence, the operating principles of major models and various fields in which AI is applied. Additionally, they had the opportunity to explore specific AI tools that simplify library work process routine and increase efficiency.

    Participants discussed the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence, principles of fairness and ethical issues. Emphasis has been placed on the role of the librarian and the importance of the professional in the context of transforming modern information services.

    The training was led by Maia Metreveli — Master of Information Management and Educational Technologies, with 13 years of experience in the education field; Project Manager at Innovative Educational Connections and a member of the Georgian Artificial Intelligence Association (GAIA).

    Participants received information about AI tools that are already being used in library practice and were introduced to leading international examples of AI implementation in libraries.

    After completing the training, beneficiaries gained basic yet essential knowledge about artificial intelligence. They also had the chance to practically apply large language models to optimize work processes, create a test project (POC), and present AI digital tools (prototypes) tailored to the needs of their libraries. At the end of the training, participants were awarded certificates in “AI in Libraries.”
