    Public Lecture on Current Issues in Health and Medicine

    On June 19, the Faculty of Medicine at Caucasus International University organized a public lecture dedicated to current issues in health and medicine.

    The speakers of the public lecture were: Ia Gorgiladze - physician, pediatrician, physiotherapist, atlas specialist and nutritionist; Tamar Kharaishvili - family doctor, representative of the “Curacio” clinic, member of the Georgian Respiratory Association and the Georgian Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

    Ia Gorgiladze spoke about the significance of the first cervical vertebra - the atlas - in the formation of the musculoskeletal system and the development of spinal pathologies. The speaker focused on the relationship between deformities of the first cervical vertebra and pathologies of the spine and especially the maxillofacial region, as well as the importance of the unique Swiss treatment model in the orthodontic management of anomalies of the maxillofacial system. Issues to be considered by patients and dentists were discussed, including pathologies associated with temporomandibular joint damage and the role of nutritional support in the treatment process.

    Tamar Kharaishvili spoke about Crohn’s disease, its manifestations in the oral cavity and modern diagnostic and management approaches. The meeting focused on the clinical features of the disease and the importance of timely diagnosis.

    The public lecture was for students and practicing physicians of all specialties of the Faculty of Medicine.
