A public lecture was held at Caucasus International University as part of the educational week - “AI Ecosystem: From Knowledge to Innovation”, which was dedicated to the main driving force of the digital age, the tandem of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The meeting was led by Gulnara Janelidze, Professor of Caucasus International University. The speaker focused on the great challenge that the world is facing today. According to her, currently 90% of global data is complete chaos and old, traditional tools, such as Excel spreadsheets or SQL databases, can no longer cope with this huge wave. It is precisely the management of these information flows that has established new approaches to data science on the agenda.

During the lecture, the audience discussed in detail the anatomy of data and the way in which unstructured chaos turns into Big Data. The professor spoke in detail about the interconnection of data warehouses, Data Lake and Machine Learning, which underpins the solution of global challenges.

The discussion of a real medical case was particularly impressive, where it was clearly demonstrated how artificial intelligence can read the history of a person’s illness, convert it into a digital code and make an accurate diagnosis much faster. At the end of the meeting, it was emphasized that today Big Data and AI are no longer just dry statistics - they are lives saved and a truly changed future. The lecture ended with a Q&A session, where the audience shared their opinions on technological trends.

The event was opened by Professor Ketevan Nanobashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Technology. She placed emphasis on the relevance of such technological topics and noted the importance of supporting innovations in the modern educational space.
