    Become Engaged in Blood Donation Campaign

    CIU Clinical Skills Centre “Tbilisi Blood Transfusion Station” will hold volunteer blood donation campaign on 14 May from 11:00 to 15:00.

    All You Need to Know About Being a Donor:

    Blood donation is a process, when a healthy person donates blood.

    Blood donation is absolutely harmless for health.

    Blood can be donated again after 2 months.

    Any healthy individual from 18 to 65 can become a blood donor, if:

    • You weigh 50 kg or more;
    • You have not tested positive for hepatitis B or hepatitis C, AIDS or syphilis;
    • You do not suffer from malaria;
    • You are not drug addict.

    During the last three months:

    • You did not have surgery;
    • You have not made a tattoo during the last two months;
    • You have not contact with another person’s blood;
    • You have not been pregnant during the last six months (in case of female donors).

    At the day of donation, a donor must be practically healthy:

    • Must not have temperature.

    A blood donor:

    • Has to be sincere while answering all the questions of donation consent form;
    • Has to have a light breakfast in the morning of blood donation and drink sweet tea;
    • Has to avoid taking alcohol on the day of blood donation;
    • Has to bring ID in order to identify a donor.

    Volunteer blood donation campaign will take place in a decentralized way – they will come to you. The team consists of: transfusion doctor, laboratory assistant. Before blood transfusion, blood test is conducted to examine blood type and hemoglobin.

    Blood donations are also tested for infections: AIV Infections/AIDS, B and C Hepatitis, syphilis.

    Blood test results will be provided individually, in a closed envelope.
