“AI and the Challenges of Sustainable Development” - Public Lecture
Artificial intelligence and digital transformation are an integral part of our everyday lives today. They determine how we learn, work and develop the economy. However, this rapid technological leap also has a second, less noticeable side - growing ecological and social challenges.
This important balance was discussed on July 14 at Caucasus International University. At a public lecture held within the framework of the educational week - “AI Ecosystem: From Knowledge to Innovation”, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Technology, Professor Ketevan Nanobashvili shared an interesting vision with the gathered audience on the topic: “AI and the Challenges of Sustainable Development”.
During the lecture, the speaker focused on the energy requirements of generative artificial intelligence and giant data centers, which directly affect climate processes. The conversation also touched on the difficulties of managing e-waste, digital inequality, and the ethical questions raised by the rapid introduction of technologies.
The main message of the meeting was nevertheless hopeful - there is a solution and it is called “Green IT”. Ketevan Nanobashvili introduced the audience to modern ecological concepts and innovative approaches that allow us to continue technological progress without harming the environment.
The lecture ended with an active discussion, where the audience had the opportunity to personally receive answers to questions of interest to them.
