    Professor Mutlu Arat Awarded Doctor Honoris Causa by CIU

    In recognition of his outstanding achievements in medicine, exemplary leadership in hematology and stem cell transplantation, and significant contributions to clinical science and medical education, Professor Mutlu Arat (Turkey) was awarded Doctor Honoris causa by Caucasus International University on April 20. The honor also acknowledges his invaluable support to the university, his commitment to fostering innovation in healthcare, and his dedication to advancing the academic community.

    Mutlu Arat, Doctor of Medicine, an internationally renowned professor, is the founder of the Bone Marrow Transplantation Center at the Florence Nightingale Hospitals Group, where he has worked since 1991. Over the course of his career, he has successfully performed more than 1,400 bone marrow transplants.

    During the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Caucasus International University and Memorial Hospitals Group (Istanbul, Turkey), aimed at strengthening collaboration in medical services and academic initiatives.

    Tamar Inasaridze, CIU Vice-Rector addressed the audience and the honorary guest and placed emphasizes on Professor’s scientific accomplishments and his valuable contributions to the university.

    “I am one of the patients whose life he saved,” admitted Professor Giorgi Pareshishvili, Advisor to the Rector of Caucasus International University, in his address. He shared with the audience that five years ago he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. “At a time when the situation appeared utterly hopeless, Professor Arat assumed full responsibility for my treatment. It is due to his decisive action and exceptional professionalism that I am standing before you today,” stated Mr. Giorgi Pareshishvili. Several of Professor Mutlu Arat’s former patients were also attending, and personally expressed their gratitude for his dedication and life-saving work.

    Following the official ceremony, Professor Mutlu Arat delivered a presentation on the topic: “Clonal Hematopoiesis and Age-Related Inflammatory Processes: Clinical Significance”. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session.

    Marina Gedevanishvili, Head of the Quality Assurance Service at Caucasus International University also addressed the audience. Magda Tortladze, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine participated in the award ceremony and the event was moderated by Svetlana Kirakosyan, Head of the Department of International Relations.

    The event was attended by members of the university academic and administrative staff, along with students.
