On April 1, the Faculty of Business and Technology at Caucasus International University hosted a public lecture titled “Georgia and International Financial Institutions”. The invited speaker, Giorgi Maghlakelidze, Doctor of Economic Sciences, an expert in economics, introduced the role of global financial institutions in the economic development of Georgia.

The lecture primarily focused on the analysis of the functioning of international financial institutions (IFIs). The speaker provided a comprehensive overview of how these organizations support developing countries through financial aid and advisory services, fostering economic growth, infrastructure development and poverty reduction.

Giorgi Maghlakelidze also discussed the activities of key global institutions, including the World Bank Group, which prioritizes long-term investments in education and healthcare, and the International Monetary Fund, which focuses on maintaining financial stability and ensuring currency resilience.

Special emphasis was placed on European and regional institutions. The expert noted that the EBRD and EIB play a significant role in strengthening private sector in Georgia, promoting energy efficiency and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) continues to make significant contributions to the economic growth of the region.

Towards the end of the meeting, the speaker highlighted that cooperation with international financial institutions is essential for the integration of Georgia into global financial markets and for achieving sustainable economic development.

The event was attended by Kakhaber Kordzaia, University Rector. The audience was welcomed by Ketevan Nanobashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Technology. The event brought together students, as well as members of the university academic and administrative staff.
