“Effective Communication” - Ani Tsitskishvili’s Training
Caucasus International University Life-Long Learning and Career Development/Personnel Management Offices organized a training for administrative staff on the topic of “Effective Communication,” led by Brand Communication Strategist Ani Tsitskishvili.
The meeting was opened by Guram Liluashvili, Head of Life-Longa Learning and Career Development Service, who placed emphasis on the significance of such professional meetings for improving effective communication among employees. The audience was also welcomed by Tamar Jalaghania, Head of Personnel Management Service, who focused on the effectiveness of teamwork and the need to strengthen intra-organizational communication.
During the meeting, the trainer discussed in detail the essence of communication as a process of creating understanding and its fundamental elements, such as information coding, decoding, channel and feedback. The fact that people perceive words through their own experiences, emotions and perceptions was highlighted. For that reason, for successful interaction, it is necessary to define a clear central idea and allocate specific target directions, which eliminates ambiguity and is based on the principle: “One conversation - one main message”.
The meeting focused on the power of words and the correct selection of vocabulary, as vague definitions (e.g., soon, normally, a lot) often lead to misunderstandings. Based on practical exercises, the participants compared the emotional and content impact of different wordings, including the importance of a constructive approach of “yes, and…” instead of “yes, but…”. In addition to the verbal part, the speaker spoke at length about the great role of non-verbal communication - voice tone, intonation, gestures, posture and eye contact, the coincidence of which is crucial for evoking emotions in the listener.
The final part of the meeting gighlighted effective feedback management tools, without which the process becomes chaotic and based on assumptions. The training participants were introduced to practical models and approaches such as the Sandwich principle, the Feedforward principle focused on future development, and the SBI (Situation-Behavior-Impact) methodology based on behavior and results. This meeting will contribute to further improving internal communication processes among university employees and increasing the effectiveness of professional activities.
