Giorgi Samanishvili and Saba Kitiashvili, doctoral students of the Faculty of Viticulture and Enology of Caucasus International University, were invited to one of the most prestigious international wine events - Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, CMB held in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, where they participated as members of the committee.

The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, (CMB) is one of the most authoritative international platforms in the field of wine, which has been held since 1994 and annually brings together more than 15,000 applications from all over the world. The samples presented at the competition are evaluated by professionals in the field according to the principle of “blind tasting”, which ensures maximum objectivity of the evaluation process.

It is noteworthy that this year, for the first time in history, the CMB was hosted by the capital of Armenia, Yerevan. On May 21, the sessions for red and white wines, as well as sparkling wines, were opened and held simultaneously.

Over three days, more than 320 tasters from 56 countries evaluated more than 6,700 red and white wines, as well as almost 1,000 sparkling wine samples from 51 countries.

At the same time, a No/Low (non-alcoholic and low-alcohol wines) session was held as part of the competition, where more than 100 samples were presented. This direction is considered one of the fastest growing trends in the global wine industry.

The results of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) will be published on June 10 on the official website - concoursmondial.com.

The participation of CIU doctoral students in an international competition of such scale and importance once again emphasizes the university’s involvement in the international professional and academic sphere, as well as the importance of training high-level specialists in the field of viticulture and winemaking.
