CIU PhD Student Wins 2026 EAIE Doctoral Research Grant

Jovana Ablotia, a PhD student in the Political Science Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Caucasus International University, has been awarded the 2026 European Association for International Education (EAIE) Doctoral Research Grant.
The EAIE Doctoral Research Grant is a major grant program in the field of international education that aims to support outstanding academic research and its development on a global scale. The program was established in 2025, and only five research projects were funded in the 2026 competition from applications received from around the world.
Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the only recipient selected from Georgia in the 2026 competition is a doctoral student of Caucasus International University. This remarkable achievement represents significant international recognition and once again highlights the active engagement of the university students and researchers in the global academic, educational and research community.
The study will examine the role of education in political socialization. The grant supports the empirical phase of the research, which will analyze how the internationalization of higher education is related to democratic values, civic engagement and institutional trust.
In addition to her research activities, Jovana Ablotia is actively engaged in the processes of quality assurance and international accreditation of higher education. She is a member of the European Studentsโ Union (ESU) Quality Assurance Student Expertsโ Pool and for the second mandate, continues in 2026-2027. In addition, she is registered in the expert databases of quality assurance agencies of various countries and participates in international evaluation and accreditation processes.
Obtaining an EAIE research grant will support the further development of doctoral research, the implementation of empirical research, and the sharing of the results in the international academic community.
CIU congratulates Jovana Ablotia on this significant international achievement and wishes her success in her research and professional activities!
