A meeting with Manana Antadze, the Georgian translator of “Harry Potter”;
Manana Antadze is one of the most prominent figures in modern Georgian theatre—a distinguished translator, playwright and public figure whose work has shaped the Georgian national stage for over fifty years. She has more than 50 years of professional experience in translation and is known for bringing world masterpieces of drama to Georgian audiences. Her translations combine linguistic precision with a vivid, performance-oriented style that brings texts to life for both actors and audiences. She is the author and translator of numerous iconic stage productions, including Georgian adaptations of works by William Shakespeare (“Macbeth”, “King Lear”), Molière (“Don Juan”), and Tennessee Williams (“A Streetcar Named Desire”), among many others.
Additionally, Antadze is the Georgian translator of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, a translation authorized directly by J. K. Rowling.
