The 9th International Dental Congress was held at Hotel Biltmore on April 13-14, 2019

The congress was organized by Scientific-Research Center Radix and the support of Georgian Dental Association. Radix is a professional union of young scientists which was founded in 2009 and has organized a number of events in various directions since then. Cultural, research and social projects should be distinguished among them.

The congress was attended by approximately 600 delegates. The participants of the International Forum of Young Dentists, organized by Radix youth department, were awarded at the opening ceremony. Students from various universities and representatives of residency centers participated in the forum. The selected participants had trainings at Caucasus International University, studied how to prepare effective presentations, how to present in from of the audience, how to develop communication skills, etc. They made presentations in the conference on March 31, 2019. Their presentations were evaluated by the committee. Three winners have been named in accordance with the committee assessment:

• I place – Nutsa Gogibedashvili, 4th-year student of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University;
• II place – Eter Beridze and Salome Chikovani, residents of Albius Dental Academy;
• III place - Mohammad Hazi Alian, a student of the University of Georgia.

The participants were awarded by Ms. Ketevan Gogilashvili, a president of Georgian Dental Association, Ms. Lali Mekokishvili, dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Caucasus International University, Ms. Tamar Niniashvili, a representative of PSP, which is general sponsor, companies Gea, Curaprox and others.

Mariam Khandzaria, a resident of Albius Dental Academy and a participant of youth forum was named as the favorite of the committee. Ms. Elene Kharashvili, Vice-President of the Georgian Children’s Dental Association, named Nino Sichinava and Nani Janashia as their favorites.

Ms. Nino Gvasalia and Landa Lursmanashvili, ex and current presidents of Radix, Ms. Lali Mekokishvili, dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Caucasus International University, Mr. Dimitri Kordaia, dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University addressed the audience at the opening ceremony. National Center for Disease Control and Public Health also became engaged in the event. Mr. Davit Tsereteli, the representative of the center reminded the society the significance of infection control and vaccination. In addition, the participants were able to become engaged in C Hepatitis Screening Program within the framework of C Hepatitis Elimination Program. During the congress, the exhibition and sale of dental materials, instruments, equipment and the products of the pharmaceutical companies were held. The congress scientific program was as diverse as it was the previous years.

• Morphology of Frontal teeth and premolars – Alibek Tleunazarov, therapist, lecturer of Dentsply Sirona, Kazakhstan
• Formation-limit of Apical base and real possibilities. HANDS-ON course – Gvantsa Tabaghua, President of Scientific-Research Center Radix, Assistant Professor at EEU
• The improvement of non-surgical treatment results of periodontal disease and peri-implantitis by using additional treatment methods. HANDS-ON course – Prof. Marisa Ronkat, Registered Oral Hygienist, Professor of Bologna University, Speaker of International School of Periodontology, Italy

• Sedation in Dentistry – Anzor Chomakhidze, Anesthesiologist - Doctor of Intensive Therapy. Clinic Dentex; Associate member of European Society of Anesthesiology. Lecturer, European Education in Anesthesiology CEFA; graduate of Cleveland University Clinic, Stanford University Clinic observation.

The presentations lasted from 10:00 to 20:00. The discussion part was a novelty this year and it provoked great interest. The congress was closed by Ms. Landa Lursmanashvili, Radix President towards the end of the day.
