Open Lecture by International Relations Students
On June 13, an open lecture was held at Caucasus International University within the framework of the course English for International Relations 2, led by Nana Parinos, PhD, Associate Professor. During the session, students of the Bachelor’s Educational Program in International Relations delivered a thematic presentation: “Georgia: The February 6, 1921 Parade”.
The student presentation was inspired by a historical photograph depicting the parade held on February 6, 1921, in celebration of Georgia’s Independence Day. The image captures a significant moment when representatives of the diplomatic corps from various countries congratulated Georgia on the Independence Day of the Democratic Republic.
The participants of the open lecture independently developed a scenario and brought to life, through artistic interpretation, the historical figures depicted in the photograph. Among those portrayed were: Chairman of the Government of Georgia Noe Jordania, British High Commissioner Colonel Claude Bayfield Stokes, French High Commissioner Abel Chevalier, Turkish Diplomatic Representative Kiasim Bey, Georgian Diplomatic Representative to Turkey Svimon Mdivani, Italian Ambassador Cerruti, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantine Sabakhtarashvili, Minister of Education and Deputy Chairman of the Government Grigol Lortkipanidze, and Deputy Chairmen of the Constituent Assembly Aleksandre Lomtatidze and Ekvtime Takaishvili, etc.
The event aimed to awaken historical memory, foster students’ analytical and communicative skills, and provide an opportunity to practice professional terminology in English within the context of international relations.
