From October 12 to 15, the Faculty of Viticulture and Enology at Caucasus International University hosted a delegation of researchers from the Institute for Viticulture and Enology at Ariel University, Israel. The scientific delegation was led by Professor Shivi Drori, and included researchers Lihi Hoch and Yahel Lev Miron.

During the visit, Professor Shivi Drori met with Kakhaber Kordzaia, Rector of Caucasus International University. The parties reviewed ongoing work and discussed details regarding future joint scientific initiatives.

It is worth noting that the scientific collaboration between the two institutions began last year, when Lihi Hoch’s initial visit laid the groundwork for a comparative oenological study of Georgian and Israeli grape varieties, including wild vine forms. Preliminary investigations conducted during the first phase enabled the scientists to develop a joint methodology and refine the details of the research.

This year’s visit marked a significant milestone in deepening the partnership and expanding its scope. The parties substantially increased the range and number of genotypes under study, and also refined their research methods.
