On July 15, at 15:00, the presentation of the joint project of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature and the Georgian Comparative Literature Association - “Centenary of Georgian Original Dramaturgy” will be held.
The head of the project and the author of the idea is the director of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature of TSU, president of the Georgian Comparative Literature Association, TSU Professor Irma Ratiani.
The project was implemented with the support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. In addition - with the participation and co-financing of Caucasus International University.
The head of the project, professor Irma Ratiani, the Chancellor of Caucasus International University Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, the Head of the Multimedia Center of Caucasus International University Nino Chalaganidze will address the audience as well as other speakers participating in the project. At the same time, a video clip and a short video annotation depicting the long and interesting process of working on scientific-cognitive films will be shown at the presentation.
About the project: The project “Centenary of Georgian Original Dramaturgy” presented within the framework of the targeted grant competition for the popularization of science aims to popularize Georgian original dramaturgy, including the work of female authors, while at the same time substantiating the idea that Georgian dramaturgy is part of the European discourse.
Within the framework of the project, a series of scientific-cognitive films was created on the life and work of Georgian playwrights of the first century (1850s-1950s), who made a significant contribution to the development of Georgian dramaturgy. These authors are:

The scientific-cognitive films were based on the fundamental research of the project leader, Professor Irma Ratiani, and her new work: “The Poetics of Drama with a Georgian Accent.” Simultaneously, in the process of implementing the project, the scriptwriters took into account the three-volume work prepared by the researchers of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature: “Georgian Dramaturgy Chrestomathy (Famous and Unknown Texts), which contains unique texts of Georgian playwrights found in archival materials, unknown to the general public. At the same time, the scientific publication combines unknown facts from the biographies of Georgian playwrights and qualified scientific research.
The scientific-cognitive film - “A Centenary of Georgian Original Dramaturgy” - will be the first attempt to popularize the little-known or completely forgotten dramaturgical texts of the first female playwrights - Ekaterine Gabashvili and Barbara Jorjadze, and in general, the significant scientific conclusions/discoveries accumulated in the process of researching Georgian dramaturgy.
