Caucasus International University, in partnership with the Women’s Federation “Congress of Caucasian Women,” is pleased to invite you to a memorial evening dedicated to the victims of the 1944 deportation of the Vainakh people.

Event Moderator/Speaker: Meka Khangoshvili, PhD in Philology

    Agenda:

    • Screening of Khusein Erkenov’s film “Ordered to Be Forgotten” (depicting the Khaibakh tragedy)
    • Presentations by scholars and public figures, including a review of works by Georgian writers and poets addressing the deportation of the Vainakh people

For your information, on February 23, 1944, under orders of the Soviet authorities, the Chechen and Ingush populations were forcibly expelled from their homeland within a single day and deported to Central Asia. In 2004, the European Parliament officially recognized the deportation of the Chechen and Ingush peoples as an act of genocide.

    Attendance is free.
