A public meeting on the topic – “Media Literacy” was held at the University Library. The event was organized by the Life-Long Learning and Career Development Service / Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Caucasus International University.

The invited speakers at the meeting discussed the issue from various scientific and practical perspectives. Professor Zaza Tsotniashvili focused on the dual nature of generative artificial intelligence (AI) - both as an opportunity and a challenge for modern society. He noted that in parallel with technological progress, the risks of managing disinformation flows and spreading fake content are significantly increasing. Tamar Kavtaradze, Head of the Library of Caucasus International University, discussed the significance of identifying verified and reliable sources in the digital era, as well as adhering to academic integrity standards.

The aim of the research and public discussion was to promote media literacy competencies in the general public, which is an important prerequisite for critical understanding of information and assessment of its reliability in the modern digital environment. In the context of global digital transformation and the growth of disinformation flows, this issue goes beyond narrow academic frameworks and appears as one of the important elements of ensuring social sustainability.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on practical and methodological tools that help society prevent information manipulation, critically evaluate sources, and effectively adapt to modern technological reality.
