Debate - NATO Must Intervene in Russia-Ukraine War
On March 20, CIU Faculty of Social Sciences Debate Club hosted a Karl Popper-style debate with the resolution: NATO Must Intervene in Russia-Ukraine War.
Students of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations participated in the debate: Affirmative “Sazrisi” - Guram Liluashvili, Tamar Okujava, Maka Basilidze / Negative “Phoenix” - Besik Tavartkiladze, Kristine Kukchishvili, Natia Abuashvili.
The panel of judges of the debate included: Vakhtang Maisaia, Doctor of Political Science, Head of CIU Postgraduate Program in International Relations and International Security; Giorgi Pareshishvili, Doctor of Political Science, Advisor to the Rector, and Beka Managadze, Doctor of Political Science.
After going through the appropriate stages taken into account by debate format, the jury gave the Negative a slight advantage.
At the end of the day, the debate process and its significance were assessed by Nana Amiranashvili, Dean of CIU Faculty of Social Sciences, and Alika Guchua, Head of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations.
The debate was moderated by the representative of the Dean of the Faculty, Marika Chkhenkeli.
The next round of debate between the teams will take place on March 25th.
