In order to promote internationalization in the university, the International Relations Department promotes, prepares and submits applications for participation in international grant projects in cooperation with partner universities and organizations.
Caucasus International University (CIU) participates in an unprecedented international project: “Qualification Requirements for University Graduates in Health Tourism”. The project is funded by DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service and is supervised by TID – Deggendorf Institute of Technology, Germany.
Together with Caucasus International University, the following institutions are participating in the project:
The goals of the project are: promoting the development of medical wellness & spa tourism in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Ukraine and Georgia through innovative education and research; Close cooperation with the health tourism business sector and establishing qualification requirements for university graduates; Creation and implementation of joint training courses and master’s program in medical wellness & spa tourism; Implementation of joint scientific researches; Organization of an annual “summer school” in Germany for students and professors of universities from all participating countries.
Within the framework of this unique project, the joint course “Medical Wellness & Spa Management” was created with the cooperation of six universities. Within the mentioned course, the cycle of online lectures is held which includes 15 topics, that are delivered by professors of the participating universities. Also, within the framework of the project research on the Wellness&Spa in Tourism is being carried out, which, along with the professors of the participating institutions, includes also students. Under the project, annually a seasonal school is held in Germany. 25 students of Caucasus International University (CIU) Faculty of Business and Technology, Undergraduate Program in Tourism and Faculty of Medicine are involved in the project.
In 2020, the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine - STCU funded the Master's Degree Program in Global Policy and Security Studies, the duration of which was 2 years (1/08/2020- 01/08/2022), and the project budget was 66525 euros.
From the 2021 academic year, the English-language Master's Program in Global Policy and Security Studies has been introduced at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The master's program has been developed as a result of consultations with professors of relevant specialties and experienced experts from Canada, Argentina, Poland, Ukraine and other leading universities in Central Europe, who are directly involved in the implementation of this program together with Georgian professors.
From 2023 the project was prolonged and is undergoing, now involving the compilation of a Manual on Global Policy and Security Issues in English.
In 2023, Caucasus International University joined the project “Consulting Services for Promoting Internationalization of Higher Education”, which is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia within the framework of the “Georgia - Innovation, Inclusion and Quality” project with the financial support of the World Bank.
The project aims to promote the internationalization of higher education in Georgia and includes three main tasks: development of a joint doctoral program in education and science management, development of specialty English language modules and entrepreneurship modules, and development and implementation of international seasonal schools for doctoral students and young researchers.
In the first stage of the project, the institutional research and evaluation of Georgian Higher Education Institutions with various components - learning and teaching, education, research, material and human resources, etc. was implemented. In the second stage, online workshops were held for the higher education institutions involved in the project and they were introduced to the goals of the project, and in the third stage of the project, several universities were selected, which will implement the tasks set by the project in cooperation with foreign consultants.
Caucasus International University was selected to implement the second task of the project. On the basis of CIU Faculty of Business and Technology, in cooperation with international project experts, representatives of University College London Consultants, the so-called Benchmark modules of “Business English” and “Entrepreneurship” will be developed, which after the completion of the project will be offered to other Georgian universities as a guide for the implementation of the mentioned modules.
Within the framework of the program, consultation meetings were held in 2021 and 2022 with Experts. The project included consultations in 3 directions provided by the Bologna process: Innovative approaches to learning and teaching; Mobility and internationalization; and Curriculum Development.
Caucasus International University, as a successful participant in the project, was given a certificate of appreciation.
