The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Caucasus International University and the National Bank of Georgia on March 24.
The Memorandum, signed by Kakhaber Kordzaia, CIU Rector and Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, aims to increase access to financial education and raise awareness among the younger generation.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, gave a lecture at the University and covered in details the importance of financial education and explained what the country’s central financial institution is doing in this area.
Financial education is one of the priority areas for the National Bank of Georgia. In order to support this direction, the National Bank of Georgia has initiated and organized a number of important projects and activities.
“Looking at the consequences of the war and the pandemic, the financial loss is noticeable in addition to the human loss, which is invaluable. Part of the society loses their jobs, terminate business activities, and that affects the income of individuals and households and, consequently, their quality of life. If we ponder how financial education can cope with this result, we can conclude that if we manage finances properly, distribute income accurately, and make savings, we create the so-called “safety cushion”, and make diversified investments, we will go through shock periods much more calmly and it will not radically affect our standard of living,” said Koba Gvenetadze.
“Caucasus International University supports the strengthening of the financial literacy policy implemented by the National Bank of Georgia. Hence, it is an honor to sign a memorandum of understanding with the National Bank of Georgia. I want to express my gratitude towards the Bank for this opportunity”, - stated Giorgi Abashishvili, the Dean of the Faculty of Business of Caucasus International University.
The Memorandum of Understating was signed between the parties within the framework of the Global Money Week. At the initiative of the NBG, Georgia has been engaged in the week together with more than 170 countries since 2014.
