A scientific conference organized by the “Georgian Vine and Wine Culture Research Project” operated by the National Wine Agency was opened on October 10 at the Sheraton Metekhi Palace Hotel. The event is held with the support of the Government of Georgia within the framework of “Wine Days” under the name – “Georgian Vine and Wine Culture Research Project - Results and News”. Scientists from leading Georgian and foreign institutes, who study Georgian vines and wine through various scientific disciplines, participate in the event.
The representatives of Caucasus International University participated in the work of the conference: Rector - Kakhaber Kordzaia, Head of the Scientific Research Department - Sesili Gogiberidze, Dean of the Faculty of Viticulture and Winemaking - Olani Gotsiridze, one of the organizers of the conference, head of the scientific direction of the Faculty of Viticulture and Winemakig, Davit Maghradze and the scientific/academic staff of the faculty.
The participants of the conference were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Nodar Papukashvili, who placed emphasis on the successes of Caucasus International University in the development of educational programs in the direction of viticulture and winemaking, and promotion of entrepreneurial and scientific activities.
“Caucasus International University has created an exemplary conceptual model of the learning environment in the direction of viticulture and winemaking in a very short time, which is based on a rich and multifunctional material base, educational programs created according to the standards of advanced European universities, and highly qualified academic and scientific personnel.
Activities focused on the quality of education by taking into consideration the strategic directions of the development of the field of viticulture and winemaking in the country, became one of the priorities of the university. The university has established a new standard with large-scale investments, initiatives encouraging private entrepreneurship, scientific-research activities, development of the mechanism of co-financing of grant projects, constructive cooperation with Georgian and foreign academic centers, state agencies, activities for the promotion of Georgian wine.
Awarding of the status of origin to the wine “Okami” by Caucasus International University should be highlight among the achievements”, stated Mr. Nodar Papukashvili.
