Professor Vakhtang Maisaia, Supervisor of Postgraduate Program in International Relations and International Security at Caucasus International University and Alika Gechua, Doctor of Political Science, Co-Supervisor of the program paid a scientific-academic visit to Poland on October 9-20, 2019. 8th International Scientific Conference on the topic – Caucasus – Experiences of the Past –Perspectives of the Future was held in Rzeszow on October 10-11, 2019. In addition, a conference on the topic: From Intermarium to Three Seas Initiative was organized in Ostrowiec Wsietokrzyski on October 17-18.
Integration and Collective Security Conceptions in Central and Eastern Europe the 20th and 21st Centuries, co-organized by Caucasus International University in partnership with the Polish public and private structures.
Vakhtang Maisaia made presentations on the following topics: “Geopolitical Dilemma of Caucasus - Land between the EU and the Euro-Atlantic Community - Rimland for the New Cold War”; Pan-Regional Provisions and Its Geopolitical Consequences of the Three Seas Region - Security Dilemma and Security Deadlock” at the international conferences. Furthermore, Alika Gechua delivered speeches on the following topics: “The April 9, 1989 Tragedy in Georgia and its Geopolitical Consequences”; “Abolition of the 1987 Treaty on the Elimination of Medium and Small-Range Missiles and Its Impact on Regional Security in the Format of the Three Seas (Baltic-Adriatic-Black Sea Area)”.
It is worth mentioning that Vakhtang Maisaia was elected as an honorary professor of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship in Ostrowiec-Wsietokrzyski, which is patronized by the Security Council Bureau of the Republic of Poland on October 19.
In addition, he was awarded the Titus Filipovic high academic award at the University of Warsaw. The organizers of the events in Poland, together with the Caucasus International University, were the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, the Ministry of Defense, the Central European Center for Strategic Studies and the Ministry of Defense of Romania.
