A public lecture was delivered by Vera Khazhalia, Head of the NATO Division of the Security Policy and Euro-Atlantic Integration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, at the Information Center on NATO and EU in connection with the 73rd anniversary of NATO, on April 4.
The public meeting was attended by students from various universities, as well as Caucasus International University students, representatives of administrative and academic staff.
During the lecture, the speaker reviewed the history, mission and priorities of NATO, with a special emphasis placed on NATO-Georgia relations.
As it was noted at the meeting, NATO membership is one of the main priorities of Georgia’s foreign and security policy. The reforms carried out by Georgia, which are in full compliance with the basic requirements for NATO membership and the recommendations of the Alliance, significantly contribute to the further development of democratic processes in the country. For its part, Georgia, as an aspirant country of the Alliance, plays a significant role in strengthening Euro-Atlantic security.
The second part of the lecture continued with a question-response mode. In addition, a discussion on topical issues related to NATO was held among the students.
The event was moderated by Tamara Tsuleiskiri, Director of the Information Center on NATO and EU.
