On May 10, a public lecture was held on the topic: “The Importance and Challenges of Adaptation to Prison Life” within the framework of the “Program of Adaptation to Prison Life” project that won the grant competition of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia on May 10.
At the meeting, the manager of the mentioned project, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law of Caucasus International University, Tamta Tirskvadze, made a welcome speech, who informed the audience about the results of the project that won the grant competition and the future plans.
Givi Mikanadze, the Georgian researcher of the project, Associate Professor of Caucasus International University, the chairman of the Education Committee of the Georgian Parliament, the Master of Laws of the University of Essex and the doctoral student of the Free University of Amsterdam, spoke about the importance of adapting to prison life.
At the lecture, the foreign researcher of the project, Professor James McManus (expert of the courts of the United Kingdom in extradition and compensation cases regarding prison conditions, former member of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) on behalf of the United Kingdom) placed emphasis on the challenges of adapting to prison life as an example of his own international experience.
At the event, the group of student researchers of the project, who were selected on the basis of the Caucasus International University, were awarded certificates of appreciation.
The meeting was attended by the Dead of the Administration, Manana Begiashvili and the Deputy Head of the Administration, Lana Batlidze, from the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. From the Special Penitentiary Service - Resocialization of Convicts - Head of Rehabilitation Department, Inga Sarjveladze, Deputy Head of Resocialization of Convicts - Rehabilitation Department, Nana Koridze and Head of Human Resources Management Division, Teona Babunashvili.
The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, George Khatidze and the administrative and academic staff of the University.
