The final stage of the video contest and essay competition of Caucasus International University school-educational project “What the Black Sea Says” was held online on September 18-19, where the best works of the project were revealed.
The event was moderated by Marine Ugulava, Coordinator of CIU School-Educational Projects of the Public Relations Department. Nunu Mitskevich, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and Tatia Mtvarelidze, Coordinator of the Education and Science Promotion Program of the Ministry welcomed the participants and wished them success.
The students of Batumi school “Euro-2000”, Irine Davladze and Davit Khintibidze (topic: “The Fateful Cruise of the Black Sea Titanic”, supervisor: Khatuna Khundadze) took the first place in the video competition of the project. The second place was taken by a pupil of a public school in the village of Sagarejo municipality: Nia Bochoridze (topic: “The Black Sea Lifeguards”, supervisor: Megi Tskhvariashvili), and the third place - Nino Avkopashvili, a pupil of Rustavi Public School No. 8 (supervisor, Pati Chichilidze).
The competition commission included Rusudan Kvaratskhelia, producer of CIU Multimedia Center, and Sulkhan Meladze, Deputy Head of the Multimedia Center.
Beka Abuladze, a pupil of Tbilisi Public School No. 180 (topic: “The Black Sea Economy and Georgia”, supervisor: Naira Jebirashvili) became the winner of the essay competition. Tamar Bebia, a student of Poti Public School No. 3 (topic: “Returned Sea”, supervisor: Nino Gabunia) won the second place and the third place was taken by Iese Maisuradze, a student of Oni Public School (topic: “The Black Sea as the Main Artery of Georgia's Foreign Relations, Economy and Trade”, supervisor: Shorena Gagnidze).
The commission consisted of Ekaterine Lomia, Giorgi Pareshishvili, PhD students of CIU and Davit Tabatadze, Assistant Professor of CIU.
The educational competition “What the Black Sea Says” was held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia within the project “Science Calendar 2021”. The aim of the competition was to give students a better understanding of the importance of the Black Sea in terms of both Georgia’s economic policy and foreign relations, to get acquainted with scientific issues related to the Black Sea and interpretations of the Black Sea community in Georgian mythology, literature and art.
The winners were awarded with Biblus 300, 200 and 100 GEL vouchers and branded university gifts from Caucasus International University, and all project participants received certificates.
