A conference on the topic: The Role of Refugee Football Clubs in Peace Processes was organized by the Caucasus International University Laboratory for Geopolitical Modeling and International Center for Sports Diplomacy of Tbilisi International Relations Institute on October 24, 2019.
The conference was devoted to the rights of internally displaced persons in sports, and in particular the role of expelled football clubs in the peace process. During the conference the emphasis has been placed on such significant issues as identification and analysis of the problematic functioning of the expelled football clubs - analysis of the situation of the expelled football clubs in Europe; To unite the efforts of the expelled football clubs to establish contacts, to cooperate, to share their experiences, to represent the rights and interests of internally displaced persons and the expelled football clubs; presenting and discussing specific initiatives with the participation of expelled football clubs.
The representatives of the expelled football clubs, government officials, veteran players, sports journalists, professors, and students participated in the conference.
It is worth mentioning that the conference was held within the framework of #FootballPeople. #FootballPeople week is the largest campaign in support of social change and diversity in the world of football. 50 countries and more than 150 000 people organize and participate in mass events focusing on social changes for two weeks.
