Caucasus International University organized online lectures on the topic of the Black Sea within the framework of the project “Science Calendar – 2021” announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia on September 27-28.
The two-day lecture series was opened with a lecture by Nino Mindiashvili, Associate Professor of CIU, Doctor of Philology, on the topic: “The Sea in the Literature of Refugees”. Tea Kasradze, Professor of CIU, Doctor of Economics delivered a lecture, on the same day, on the topic: “The Black Sea Blue Economics for as Significant Potential for Georgia’s Economic Growth and Development” and Petre Mamradze, CIU Associate Professor, Academic Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, conducted a lecture on the topic: “The Black Sea from Plato to the Present Day”.
Ketevan Shoshiashvili, Associate Professor of CIU, Doctor of History, with the topic: “Historical Narrative of the Black Sea” and Vakhtang Maisaia, Doctor of Political Science, with the topic: “Geopolitical Identity of the Black Sea and Its Role Under the Conditions of War” delivered lectures on the next day.
The lectures were dedicated to the day of the fall of Sokhumi (September 27), and the topic provoked great interest among Georgian public and private school pupils, teachers and students of various universities.
For reference, Caucasus International University also organized a video contest and essay competition for schoolchildren on the topic of the Black Sea (project: “What the Black Sea Says”) this month.
