Caucasus International University became a member of the Global Wine Tourism Organization Academy.
The Academy, which unites about 50 universities from all over the world, aims at implementing research and training programs on wine tourism knowledge management, aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.
It should be noted that the Academy will directly participate in strengthening the viticulture-winemaking and tourism directions of CIU. Internships and short-term training courses are planned for this purpose. In addition, the involvement of the academy specialists in the creation of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in wine tourism is significant.
In this regard, the statement of Jose Antonio Vidal, Founder and President of the Global Wine Tourism Organization, as well as CEO – Founder and President of the Spanish Wine Tourism Association, towards Caucasus International University, is very pleasing and eloquent. Here are his words – “For GWTO – Global Wine Tourism Organization it is an honour to have CIU as a full member. Welcome to the Global Tourism Knowledge and Business Network, comprising memberships of entities from the whole chain: public administration, central, regional and municipality governments, the private sector companies and educational institutions working in close collaboration with one another, sharing know-how and expertise on tourism and specifically on wine tourism management to succeed both at international and local levels. With the main objective to enhance the socio-economic development of wine tourism destinations, providing comprehensive tours through academic research and specialized training programs. At this particularly difficult stage we deal with the current health, economic and climate change crisis, there is a need and an opportunity to redefine a new wine tourism paradigm. This need for wine tourism will focus on adapting to changing demand, considering market characteristics, size, segment and the role to be played within the context of tourism development and networks. The key to success will be in knowledge and its management, where the GWTO Academy is as the center of wine tourism knowledge management. Organization membership gives CIU the opportunity to participate in major international events, exhibition fairs, forums in the tourism, wine and gastronomy sectors. Once again, my very warm welcome to your GWTO!”
