Cross Talk was held on the topic: Human Rights in the Digital Age – Online Disinformation by the initiative of Caucasus International University
The participants of the talk discussed the threats of spreading disinformation in social media in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war, the responsibility of technological platforms and the role of civil society from the point of view of reducing and preventing disinformation. It was noted that cooperation between representatives of the academic sector and civil groups at the regional level is important. The necessary for technological platforms to cooperate with local organizations and regional networks in order to better understand the dangers of disinformation in the local context was also discussed.
Foreign and Georgian researchers and experts participated in the discussion: Dr. Thomas Kent - Associate Professor of Harriman Institute at Columbia University, a Consultant on Counter Disinformation, USA; Dr. Todd Helmus – a Senior Behavioral Scientist at RAND Scientific Research Center, USA; Maxym Dvorovyi - Digital Security Lab, Ukraine; Stefan Josan – Expert on European affairs and International Relations, Romania.
