The President of the Global Wine Tourism Organization visited Caucasus International University on October 5. José Antonio Vidal, a member of the Global Union of Wine Tourism, met with the leadership of CIU and discussed the main aspects of future cooperation with them.
The meeting was attended by Caucasus International University Chancellor - Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, Rector - Kakhaber Kordzaia, Deputy Rector for International Relations - Vakhtang Tsivtsivadze, academic and administrative staff.
The partnership between the parties envisages the involvement of Caucasus Interstate University in future business activities, as well as the implementation of joint academic and educational projects.
During their visit to CIU, the representatives of the Global Wine Tourism Organization visited the library of Caucasus International University, the Multimedia Center, the material and technical base of the Faculty of Business and Viticulture and Winemaking, laboratories, the wine cellar “Kolkhi” with its unique press, qvevris and wine library. On the spot, the guests got acquainted with the production process of the university-based company – “Ethno-Okami”, the potential of developing the existing spaces into a tourist zone, and the traditions of Georgian winemaking.
Caucasus International University (CIU), together with the Georgian Eno Tourism Association (GETA), has been a member of the Global Wine Tourism Organization for two years. The mentioned partnership envisages the implementation of studies and training programs in the direction of wine tourism management. In addition, mutual cooperation facilitates the promotion of Georgia as one of the outstanding wine tourism destinations worldwide.
