    The Faculty of Viticulture-Winemaking won the university small scientific grant with the project: Studying Antioxidant Quality of Qvevri Wine Made in accordance with Georgian Traditional Technology.

    The planned project will be implemented by the participation of CIU postgraduate student in Viticulture-Winemaking. They will acquire the research methods at the Laboratory of Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. These two universities are members of partnership consortium within the framework of the ongoing ERASMU+ project. The above mentioned research is the pioneering project in the field of viticulture-winemaking, which will be implemented as the result of the collaboration between the scientific groups of the universities. Project consultant is Dario Compagnione, Professor at the University of Teramo (Italy), head of Analytical Chemistry Department. The University of Teramo is European partner organizations for Caucasus International University in current ERASMUS project funded by European Union. The research will give chance to Caucasus International University not only to widen local collaboration with scientific groups of Tbilisi State University but deepen European partnership and increase the opportunity to submit joint projects with Italian scientific groups from the university of Teramo.

    The International Conference Project “Georgian Vine and Wine – Traditions and Scientific Challenges” prepared by the Faculty of Viticulture-Winemaking was awarded Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation grant. Host institution – Caucasus International University; Partner organization – Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. format of the conference is international scientific, which will facilitate the popularization of Georgian wine, sciences studying vine and the development of scientific researches.

    Besides Georgian scientists, four foreign scientists from partner universities are engaged in the scientific committee of the conference:

    • Dario Compagnione – PhD, Professor, University of Teramo (Italy);
    • Osvaldo Failla, PhD, professor, University of Milan (Italy);
    • Stefanos Koundouras – PhD, Professor, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece);
    • Roberto Foskino, PhD, Professor, University of Milan (Italy).
