The evening dedicated to the 25th anniversary since the restoration of Georgian-Latvian diplomatic relations was organized by the Laboratory of Caucasus Geopolitical Modelling (supervisor Alexandre Rusetski) at CIU Faculty of Social Sciences on October 12, 2018. The event was attended by Ingrīda Levrence, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia, Davit Aptsiauri, Former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Georgia to Latvia, the representatives of CIU administration, professors and students. The honorary guests of the event placed emphasis on historical dimensions of Georgian-Latvian relations and current challenges. In addition, they highlighted special strategic partnership between the two countries which plays a key role in the integration of Georgia in Euro-Atlantic structures. After official speeches, National Latvian Folk Ensemble “Vizma” performed for the audience. The attending audience liked them and they received warm applauses. The meeting between Latvian guests and representatives of the university administration was held in the CIU Laboratory of Geopolitical Modelling towards the end of the day. They discussed the educational system of Georgia and Latvia. Furthermore, they focused on the perspectives of collaboration between Caucasus International University and Latvian Universities, joint researches as well as exchange programs for academic personnel and students.
