On October 4, a public lecture was held at Caucasus International University on the topic – “The Role of International Organizations for the Development of Tourism in Georgia”.
Ketevan Meladze, president of the Georgian Hotel, Restaurant and Café Federation, founding member of the Economic Policy Advocacy Coalition - in EPAC, founder/chairman of Horeca Hotel Star Georgia, founder/president of the Association of Guides of Georgia delivered the lecture.
The speaker discussed the current state of the hospitality industry and the role of international organizations for the development of the sector. It should be noted that “Georgian Hotel, Restaurant and Cafe Federation”, as a result of many years of efforts, achieved that Georgia became the official representative of HOTREC and HOTELSTARSUNION. As a result of this fact, the students were explained the possibilities of awarding stars to hotels, which ensures hardship and protects customers from independently awarded stars. GIATA’s technology and communication networks (of which Georgia is a member) will only advertise accommodations that are actually classified/starred by the Hotelstars Union.
At the end of the lecture, students had the opportunity to ask the speaker questions about the challenges in the tourism industry.
George Abashishvili, the Dean of CIU Faculty of Business, and Lali Mikeladze, Head of CIU Tourism Lab thanked Ketevan Meladze for his interesting report and expressed their readiness for future cooperation.
