On November 9, within the framework of the ongoing research project – “Georgia and the European Union - Georgians at the Beginnings of European Integration” - professors Vazha Shubitidze, Edisher Japaridze and Lela Saralidze gave a public lecture on the topic – “Mikheil Muskhelishvili - at the Beginnings of a United Europe”.
The professors referred to the merits of Mikheil Muskhelishvili, a recognized Georgian scientist known in Europe as Michel Mouskhely, in the establishment of European Union.
“The contribution of the famous Georgian scientist - Michel Mouskhely, is undoubtedly important in the processes of formation of European Union and Euro-Atlantic integration. It can be stated without any hesitation that Georgia is not going to join the European family empty-handed, but has participated in the protection of human rights, democracy and the rule of law since the dawn of the European Union. We think that today, when the perspective (candidate) status for Georgia is being discussed in Brussels, it is the duty of all “public” organizations to establish a clear position and actively support the country in the difficult process, because the unification of Georgia in the European family is our civilizational choice and a kind of enforcement of historical regularity”.
The meeting was held in an interactive mode after the public lecture. The priorities related to Georgia’s full membership in the European Union were highlighted during the discussion process.
The leadership, academic and administrative staff of Caucasus International University attended the public lecture.
