A public discussion on the topic: “Challenges of Georgian Law and Medicine from the Restoration of Independence to the Present - Organ Transplantation, Surrogacy, Adoption” was held at Caucasus International University within the framework of Georgia Independence Week on May 25.
The discussion was opened by Kakhaber Kordzaia, Caucasus International University Rector, George Khatidze, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Magda Tortladze, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The discussion was moderated by Giorgi Pareshishvili, Advisor to the Rector.
The following individuals participated in the discussion: Dimitri Kordzaia – Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at TSU, Head of the Department of Clinical Anatomy and Surgery; Alexandre Darakhvelidze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia; Bella Pipia - Head of the Quality Analysis and Evaluation Division of the Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; Nino Bogveradze – Doctor of Law, Professor at Georgian-American University, Kordadze Law Office partner; Gia Tomadze – Doctor, Professor, President of the Georgian Association of Transplantologists; Nino Shalamberidze – Master of Law, Caucasus School of Law doctoral student, Head of Legal Department of the Center for Emergency Surgery and Traumatology; Mariam Peradze - Chief Specialist of the Civil Acts and Population Registration Service of the State Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice; Deacon Levan Mateshvili - Doctor of Theology, Education Management and History, Professor; Bella Pipia - Head of the Investigation Analysis and Evaluation Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It is noteworthy that it is a pioneering public discussion on these issues in such format, which provoked great interest and there was expressed a desire to continue meetings on these significant issues and subsequently hold an international conference.
