On June 23-24, the first international seminar on Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine in the format of continuing medical education was held in Tbilisi, which was accredited by the Accreditation Council of the Ministry of Health of Georgia.
The seminar was organized by the European Sleep and Research Society (ESRS), the Assembly of National Sleep Societies (ANSS), the Georgian Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine Society (GSSS) and Caucasus International University (CIU). The chairpersons of the seminar were Sophio Kasradze, Professor of Caucasus International University, President of Georgian Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine Society, and Ysbrand van der Werf, Professor, President of the Assembly of National Sleep Societies.
The seminar was attended by international experts in the field of sleep research and sleep medicine, namely Ysbrand van der Werf (Netherlands - President of ANSS), Peter Jung (Germany - elected President of ANSS from 2025), Morten Engström (Norway - Member of the Board of ANSS), Oana Deleanu (Romania - ANSS board member), Barbara Strazisar (Slovenia - ANSS board member) and Samson Khachatryan (Armenia - ANSS board member).
After the seminar, the organizers had a business meeting with the Chairperson of the Health Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, where they discussed the development of sleep medicine in Georgia.
