Be Active! Come to Elections! – These were the key messages that were communicated by Natia Zarnadze and Nino Khatiashvili, representatives of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training Centre at the meeting with CIU students. The training, which was organized by CIU Faculty of Law and by the initiative of the Centre, placed emphasis on the essence of election and its significance in the democratization process of the country, international duties and principles of election, the importance of a single vote and the issue of active citizenship.
Nino Zarnadze, a specialist and trainer of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training Centre discussed in details the five key sides involved in the elections - election administration, observers, election subject, media and voter. Furthermore, she explained the role and meaning of each of them.
As stated by her, the key player from the above mentioned five segments is a voter, as his/her choice decides who governs the country and how.
Natia Zarnadze placed emphasis on the upcoming presidential elections after providing general information, specifying terminology, discussing interesting cases and accomplishing the tasks offered by the trainer. After a brief historic overview, she focused on specific details.
In the concluding part of the training, the students had an opportunity to see the video material prepared by the Center, referring to the procedures and rules of the election day. Each participant was awarded the certificate and souvenir by the Center.
