Georgian Diplomacy Week was opened at Caucasus International University on November 7.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Nana Amiranashvili, and the Supervisor of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations, Alika Guchua, gave a speech at the opening event. They introduced the content of the week to the students and discussed the significance of the planned events for their professional development.
Giorgi Fareshishvili, Adviser to the Rector of Caucasus International University, placed emphasis on the importance of the week for the development of students’ professional skills, as well as raising their awareness of the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
The first lecture of the week was delivered by Nino Chabashvili, representative of the Department of Human Resources Management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, on the topic: “Diplomatic Career and Professional Development Perspectives”.
The speaker reviewed the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies and consulates, diplomatic career paths and employment opportunities for students/graduates.
A three-day training course on the topic: “Diplomatic Protocol and Etiquette” commenced on the same day within the framework of the week. The training was led by Giorgi Vashakidze, an expert in diplomatic protocol and etiquette.
The course includes introduction to the systematic basics of diplomatic protocol and etiquette; rules of usage of state symbols; teaching organization of meetings, press conferences or events.
The week, organized by CIU Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and Life-Long Learning and Career Development Services, will last until November 9.
The week is dedicated to the Day of Georgian Diplomacy (November 3), which is associated with the great Georgian public figure and diplomat, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani.
Organizing the mentioned week at Caucasus International University has already become a tradition and it is held every year.
