On April 5, a public lecture was held on the topic: “Participation of Georgian Defense Forces in International Peacekeeping Missions: NATO Experience” within the framework of “NATO Week” in connection with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The event was organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Caucasus International University and NATO and EU Research Center of CIU.
The public lecture was led by the Commander of Training and Military Education of Georgian Defense Forces, Colonel Zurab Khvichia.
Within the framework of the lecture, the speaker reviewed such issues as: participation of Georgian soldiers in various missions (Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan); human safety; threatening scenarios; rules for engaging in battle; Understanding the importance of local culture and traditions in military missions.
Before the lecture, Vakhtang Maisaia, head of CIU Postgraduate Program in International Relations and International Security, and Alika Guchua, head of CIU Undergraduate Program in International Relations, addressed the audience.
The lecture, which was very interactive, was attended by CIU International Relations students, together with the pupils of Tbilisi public school #159 (teacher: Shorena Tabatadze) and “Polyglot” school (teacher: Salome Bokhua).
It should be noted that “NATO Week” lasted for three days at Caucasus International University.
