Trainings were held for students participating in the championship at Telavi Iacob Gogebashvili State University, Caucasus University, Caucasus International University (CIU), National University of Georgia (SEU) and Sulkhan Saba Orbelian University within the framework of the National Jury Mock Trial Championship on December 2-3.
The training process for the students participating in the competition was led by qualified facilitators who prepare the participants of the championship for mock trials.
Facilitator lawyers: Zaza Datukishvili, Lady Kordzadze and Sulkhan Komakhidze conducted trainings for the students who represent the defense side at mock trials.
And for the students who represent the prosecution side in the trials, the facilitator prosecutors: Tornike Tkabladze, Tornike Nadiradze and Vladimir Bekishvili led the trainings.
Intra-university trainings will be held in the next two weeks at Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University, Ilia State University, Alte University, Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University, Zugdidi Shota Meskhia State University and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
After the completion of the trainings, intra-university mock trials will be held. The two best teams from the regions and two from Tbilisi will be selected based on the evaluation of the facilitators. The best teams will advance to the final stage.
The final mock trial of the National Jury Mock Trial Championship will be held in the Supreme Court of Georgia.
“National Championship of Mock Jury Trial” is held for the first time in Georgia on the mentioned scale and aims to raise awareness about jury court. The project will help students to improve their procedural skills and theoretical knowledge. Also, it will allow them to establish necessary professional contacts.
