A round-table discussion on the topic: The Role of Georgia in NATO Peacekeeping Missions was held on November 24. The event was organized by The International Relations and Politics Students Club at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Caucasus International University.
The keynote speaker of the meeting was Vakhtang Kapanadze, Doctor of Military Sciences, Major-General (retired), former head of the General Staff. The speaker discussed the issues of Georgia’s participation in international peacekeeping missions from the 90s to the present, and also talked about the defense capability of the country and the compatibility of the armed forces with NATO standards.
Within the framework of the round-table discussion, Alika Guchua, Supervisor of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations of Caucasus International University, placed emphasis on NATO-Georgia relations and international political issues.
The final part of the meeting was held in a question-and-answer mode, which was followed by an active discussion in the audience.
Before the start of the round table, the audience was greeted by the deputy dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Ekaterine Chalaganidze, and the founder of the International Relations and Politics Student Club, Gigi Mkheidze.
The club, composed of Caucasus International University students, actively plans to hold meetings on topical issues of international and regional politics in the future.
