Caucasus International University and the US Embassy in Georgia are launching a series of lectures to implement the State Department-funded Media Education Project “International Experience for Georgian Media Education”;
The project is designed for CIU and regional university students.

♦ Peculiarities of regional media content and its production (what percentage of content should be saturated with local news; what kind of local content should be produced to attract viewers; new genres and forms of journalism; long-read, storytelling, podcast, their production and specifics);
♦ Workflow planning and principles of modern newsroom considering the specifics of regional media (local media-staff often consists of a small group. How responsibilities are redistributed and planned in these conditions; How modern newsroom works and how it works in regional conditions; What are the specifics of working with the audience considering the age group);
♦ The importance of placing media content on social media networks (social media capabilities and innovative role in raising awareness; the importance of content production; classifying the main types of content and their proper distribution on the network);
♦ Ways and technologies of attracting audience in a social network (importance of considering the target audience for placing content on different platforms; opportunities to promote media content on social networks; specifics of working with popular websites (Facebook, Instagram) in Georgia; what ways are there to increase audience engagement).
Speakers:
►Kevin Tightfoot – Assistant News Director WCBS-TV-CBS-TV New York. He has almost 20 years of experience as a journalist and news service leader. He was an executive producer of KTRK, ABC-TV (Houston), where he has directed several of the highest rated news programs in the last four years. He has also worked as an executive producer at WESH in Orlando and WAPT in Jackson (Mississippi). In addition, he is Emmy Awards winner. Kevin was a member of the executive board of the school's NABJ. He has since served as NABJ Jackson, Mississippi Division President, and most recently as Vice President of the Houston Division. Kevin ran the NABJ Salute to Excellence Awards for three years;
► Debra Alfarone – TV News Correspondent /Anchor at CBS News and Newspath, main speaker and media trainer at Debra Alfarone Media. She is an Edward R. Murrow award winner;
► Scott Doll – Emmy award winning journalist, with 14 years of experience working in television news, including as an executive producer (Chicago) on Tribune Broadcasting, FOX News and TalkLab, and as a writer and producer on NBC5-TV in Chicago;
► Adrienne Balow - works as a journalist and producer on all the newscasts in Chicago’s leading media. She has had numerous Emmy nominations and has been an Emmy WGN Morning News winner for a long time. She is an Information Service Manager and Senior Officer. Adrienne also worked for WFLD-TV and CLTV in Chicago and WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida. She started her career at WPTV as a producer on the Morning Show; Created and directed NBC Morning News for many years.
