English-language Debate: King and Reform was held on a joint initiative of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Assistant-Professor, Doctor Nana Parinos at Caucasus International University on June 27.
The students took on the role of reformer kings they had chosen, as the result of which the debate escalated into a heated controversy, with each student defending the monarch’s reforms s/he had presented.
The winner was revealed based on deep knowledge of the historical past, analysis of reforms, correct opposition and thorough knowledge of English.
First place – Guram Liluashvili, “Vakhtan Gorgasali’s Reforms”
Second place – Maka Basilidze, “George V the Brilliant”
Third place – Ana Jinjolia, “David IV the Builder and Military Reforms”
Fourth place – Marina Nakashidze, “King Erekle II and Reforms”
Each student participating in the debate was given special vouchers. In addition, at the end of the event, the students expressed special gratitude to Nana Parinos and handed her a letter of gratitude.
