Representation of the Centre for Spanish Culture and Language – Iberia was officially founded at Caucasus International University on October 17, 2018.
The presentation event of the center was held in two stages. Ms. Ketevan Gorgiladze, official representative of CIU in Spain held the first meeting with the university academic personnel and administration. The event was opened by Ms. Nino Chubinidze, CIU Deputy Chancellor. She discussed in details all the novelties and challenges which are the priorities of CIU during the upcoming three years. She placed emphasis on the achievements and planned partnership projects of the university in the direction of studies and researches in terms of international collaboration. Furthermore, Ms. Chubinidze highlighted the increased opportunities for academic mobility offered to students and academic personnel.
Ms. Ketevan Gorgiladze, an official representative of CIU in Spain, along with her team, presented a report on exchange programs, internships, practice and other opportunities achieved as the result of negotiations with partner universities and business circles in Spain.
In addition, they focused on the possibility of academic mobility within the framework of CIU undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral educational programs if students have minimal competence in Spanish language and defined level of English language proficiency. The university and Centre Iberia provide co-funding for certificate courses in English and Spanish languages for the university students and academic personnel as well as partial financial support for international certificate exams.
Ms. Nino Chubinidze, CIU Deputy Chancellor and Ms. Ketevan Gorgiladze, an official representative of the university in Spain organized the second meeting with CIU students.
The presenters congratulated students on the opening of the representation of the Centre for Spanish Culture and Language – Iberia and noted that this initiative is a significant step forward in deepening partnership with Spain.
They referred to exchange programs, internships, "Erasmus +" or the business trips of students at Spanish universities and research centers as guest students and the importance of knowing Spanish language in this process. As stated by CIU Deputy Chancellor, Spanish language (A1, A2) is added to the list of university selective courses is order to improve language competence.
After completing two levels, any student will be able to continue his/her studies on further levels at the Centre for Spanish Culture and Language.
The meeting of CIU representatives with the students was held in an interactive way. CIU Deputy Chancellor and CIU representative in Spain listened to the students’ opinions and provided answers to their questions.
