A meeting discussing regional security issues with diplomatic and administrative personnel was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the initiative of Caucasus International University Laboratory of Geopolitical Modelling and Tbilisi Institute for International Relations (supervisor Mr. Alexandre Rusetski) on January 17, 2019. Both sides discussed a new initiative - What can be done in relation to Eastern European “Grey Zone”? German-Ukrainian initiative, which mainly refers to conflicting regions of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine was presented by Irina Vereshchuk (International Center for Black Sea-Baltic Studies and Consensus Practices) and Andreas Umlend (Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation).
The second round for discussing international initiative was held at Caucasus International University, which was attended by the University academic personnel, PhD students, experts interested in the issue and administrative personnel together with the authors. It is worth mentioning that Caucasus International University initiated international movement “Universities for Peace”, which envisages the cooperation between various universities, research centers, professors and students in conflict resolution and security issues. In addition, the Laboratory of Caucasus Geopolitical Modelling gives unique opportunity to interested individuals to discuss local as well as international concepts and initiatives. Today's event was held due to these goals.
