On November 15-17, the Ghvino Forum was held in Davis and San Francisco, California (USA). The three-day program included the Saferavi festival, Georgian wine tasting and a conference in which scientists, economists and wine professionals participated. Within the framework of the conference, the strategy of establishing Georgian wine in the US market, its marketing potential in the American market, the tactic of increasing the export of Georgian wine and other issues were discussed.
In the section of the interdisciplinary analysis of Georgian viticulture, the guests were introduced to the information about the Georgian grape-vine. Davit Maghradze, professor of Caucasus International University made a presentation and discussed the gene pool of the Georgian grape-vine. In addition, the guests were introduced to Georgian Krikina vine, its distribution, ampelographic, eno-carpological indicators, biochemical and organoleptic characteristics of wild grape wine, domestication process and local cultural varieties.
The Ghvino forum was held with the support of the National Wine Agency and the Consulate General of Georgia in San Francisco. The Georgia-American Business Council was the organizer of the forum.
