CIU is pleased to announce a competition for full funding of participation for CIU students and alumni in the International Science Festival “STARMUS”
“STARMUS Festival – 6 Edition” will take place on September 5-10, 2022 in Yerevan. The topic of the festival this year is STARMUS VI – 50 Years on Mars, and it is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the first landing of the MARS 3 mission. The festival is intended for a general audience, not only specialists in the field.
“STARMUS” festival is an international platform to encourage scientific communication and interdisciplinary cooperation. The format of the festival includes scientific debates, panel discussions, exhibitions, concerts, film screenings and many other activities. Within the framework of this year’s “STARMUS”, Nobel laureates will present their talks: Kip Thorne, one of the most famous physicists of our time, Emmanuel Charpentier, Donna Strickland, Edward Moser, Michelle Mayor, Apollo astronaut Charlie Duke, astronaut Chris Hadfield, who played the guitar for the first time from space, Charles Bolden and iPod inventor Tony Fadell. In addition, NASA astronaut Jim Baghian will be a guest at this year’s festival.
International festival of science “STARMUS” was founded by astrophysicist Garik Israelian and legendary guitarist of Queen, astrophysicist Brian May. The festival is associated with the names of British physicist and astrophysicist - Stephen Hawking and world famous artists, scientists and musicians.
The festival was held for the first time in 2011 in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) and since then it has been held in various European countries. Today, STARMUS is an international platform that brings together world-famous scientists, Nobel laureates, astronauts, artists, who share their experience, knowledge and latest inventions with the new generations in order to direct their inspiration to the world of science.

Due to the date of the festival, the competition is held on August 23-29. The results will be announced on August 31. Two applicants will be selected for funding.
