An international scientific conference on the topic: Modern International Security and Weapons of Mass Destruction - Asymmetric Military Challenges and Regional Security Dilemma was held at Caucasus International University on February 14.
The co-organizers of the conference are CIU Institute for Strategic Studies of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Threats and Science and Technology Center of Ukraine (STCU).
Kakhaber Kordzaia, Rector of Caucasus International University, Professor Maria Espona, coordinator of the Ukrainian Science and Technology Center, Mariusz Mashkiewicz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Georgia and Major General Koba Kobaladze, Director of the State Service for Veterans Affairs, gave welcome speeches at the conference.
The event was moderated by Vakhtang Maisaia, Doctor of Political Science, Professor of Caucasus International University and University of Warsaw.
Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats, the geopolitics of dual-use technology and asymmetric warfare strategies were discussed at the conference.
Representatives of Georgia, Poland, Belgium, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Argentina were involved in the work of the international scientific conference, both experts/professors and students.
The joint plenary session of the conference was held on the topic: “Hybrid Threats in the 21st Century with Non-Proliferation Regime Provisions”, and later the work process continued in two sections: “Asymmetric Military Challenges for International Security: WMD Proliferation, Dual-Use Technology and Nuclear Terrorism” (Experts/ Professors' Section, Head - Maria Espona, STCU) and “Hybrid Warfare, Strategic Trade Control and Non-Proliferation Policy: Security Dilemma in the 21st Century” (Student Section, Head - Alika Gechua, Director of CIU Institute for Strategic Studies of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Threats).
The international scientific conference will end on February 15 with modeling and simulation games of the UN Security Council.
