A panel discussion was held at Caucasus International University within the framework of “Youth Forum for Sustainable Development and European Integration” on March 27.
The forum aimed to increase the awareness, involvement and participation of young people in the decision-making process, to present and reflect innovative visions, in the process of fulfilling the tasks to be implemented by the country. Among them, in relation to the UN sustainable development goals and issues of European integration of Georgia.
The panel discussion was preceded by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Caucasus International University and “Georgian Green Movement - Friends of the Earth – Georgia”.
The memorandum was signed by the rector of Caucasus International University, Kakhaber Kordzaia, and the chairperson of “Green Movement of Georgia - Friends of the Earth – Georgia”, Nino Chkhobadze.
The agreement between the parties envisages the implementation of theoretical and practical activities to achieve ecological, environmental and sustainable development goals, including participation and cooperation in the Youth Forum for Sustainable Development and European Integration event.
The forum was held in a discussion-panel format, papers were presented by students of CIU Undergraduate Programs in Law, Finance and Journalism:
Nana Mikava - Separation of Waste and Its Importance;
Lana Narsavidze - Impact of Solid Waste on the Environment;
Ilia Khutsishvili - Waste Processing Logistics and Supply Chain;
Tamar Okujava - The Importance of Promoting Waste Management in Society.
The meeting was attended by the rector of Caucasus International University, Kakhaber Kordzaia; Chairperson of “Green Movement of Georgia - Friends of the Earth – Georgia”, Nino Chkhobadze; Grigol Nemsadze, Associate Professor of CIU Faculty of Business and Technology; Pikria Kapanadze, Deputy Head of CIU Quality Assurance Service, and administrative and academic staff of the university.
The discussion took place in a question-and-answer mode, where the attending public received comprehensive information on issues that interested them.
